The zombie urchin mob is taking over the Pacific coast, and the kelp forests need your help!

Step into the game and work together to rebuild a kelp forest ecosystem by balancing predators, prey, helper species and giant kelp. Through collaborative play, curiosity, and hands-on building, participants explore the interconnected world of Pacific kelp forests and the real conservation efforts helping restore them.

Presented at the Gulf of Georgia Cannery World Ocean Day celebration. Find us alongside the BC Dive Fisheries Association booth.

Art 🤝 Ocean

Join us for a special creative collab workshop!

We’ll dive straight into it with oysters, sharing why they’re amazing, how they’re out there doing the lord’s work for marine ecosystems, and how to shuck safely to avoid a trip to the hospital and a free tetanus shot.

Then we’ll sample a selection of oysters through a simple introduction to merroir and learn how place, water, and environment shape flavour.

Then transition into creative mode, and make your own ceramic Oyster Tray or Seacuterie Board to take home. You will you be led through a step by step demonstration and then be let loose to add your own special touches!

This event is SOLD OUT

oh hi

I’m Trish Whetstone, a cross-disciplinary creative blending seafood skills and knowledge, storytelling, and hands-on experience to help inspire and empower people to learn and love their seafood and the waters that it comes from.

I host workshops, events, and creative experiences that invite people to get curious, ask questions, and build confidence to try something new (or weird. A lot of things that come out of the sea are pretty odd. Exploring their stories is half the fun!
